Stratford-Upon-Avon is located in South Warwickshire, this market town rose to fame during the Medieval period. Stratford-upon-Avon is commonly referred to as just Stratford. It sits on the River Avon and was the home of the legendary playwright, William Shakespeare. His enduring fame attracts numerous visitors to the city and the Royal Shakespeare Theatre is one of the most notable cultural venues in the country. Popular sights around Stratford include the Clock Tower, Bancroft Gardens, Anne Hathaway’s College, and Swan Theatre. Stratford-upon-Avon is full of English charm and Shakespearean culture. If you have ever used the expression: ‘Too much of a good thing’, ‘Come what may’ or ‘laughing stock,’ you are quoting the great playwright. Highly recommended to take some time and explore the town itself. You’ll notice images of Shakespeare everywhere and even walk through many related exhibits and displays. Close by on the River Avon is Holy Trinity Church where Shakespeare was baptized, worshiped and buried.
