Christmas Markets

It’s that time of year again folks, that’s right it’s Christmas, and we all know what that means Christmas Markets!

All over the UK, from little market towns and villages to big cities, there will be Christmas markets popping up. Serving everything from traditional Mulled wine and mince pies to something more exotic, the UK has everything you could possibly want in time for Christmas…

Probably the most famous Christmas Market in England, every year Bath city centre plays home to over 200 Christmas stalls. Wander round them amongst Bath Abbey and the Roman Baths, sampling traditional, festive delights such as mulled wine and mince pies.

If you want something a bit more permanent then there are a lot of stalls selling goods made locally in the West Country such as WoodnThings made in Somerset.

Scotland’s most famous Christmas market is Edinburgh market. This year’s market promises to be spectacular, with an ice rink where you can pretend you’re on dancing on ice. Or if you prefer something a little more relaxed how about taking a look at the stunning, panoramic views of Edinburgh from the top of the Big Wheel.

Whatever you decide to do, there is something for everyone!

As the capital of Great Britain, London has the biggest number of Christmas markets. From the magical market, over at Winter Wonderland to Christmas by the River at London Bridge. Christmas Markets in London have as varied a range as the City itself!

However, if you want a chance to meet Father Christmas himself, then the best place to go is Leicester Square which this year is home to Santa’s Grotto. A perfect activity for those with young children, coupled with 25 stalls, Leicester Square is the most family friendly Christmas out there.

If you fancy going to a real, authentic, German Christmas Market without actually having to go to Germany, then Birmingham has you covered!

Home to the Frankfurt Christmas market, once you step inside you really will feel like you are in Frankfurt. Here you can find every kind of German Christmas market food, from pretzels, schnitzels, bratwursts, and roasted almonds.

And let’s not forget about the drinks with authentic German beers such as gluhwein, weissbeer (wheat beer), or for those that don’t drink a deliciously smooth hot chocolate.

If you wish to visit a Christmas Market this winter then join us on one of our day tours such as Bath and Stonehenge where you will be able to visit the Bath Christmas Market; as well seeing the mystical magic of Stonehenge during the Winter Solstice.
